Ayurveda, the term automatically associates itself in our mind with various herbs and treatments linked with it because of its portrayal as a science of jadi-buti and a variety of herbs. And as of today, be it beauty, skin care, food or any other products which claim itself to be ayurvedic is easily marketed and gets a huge consumer base.
But, Ayurveda is much more than just few herbs which are highly popularised. It is a way of life, a framework outlined by our Ayurveda-aacharyas thousands of years ago, so that we can manage and modify our lifestyles to stay healthy, and optimize the bodily functions. So here we are outlining 15 simplest ways of Ayurveda which you can follow to stay fit, healthy and happy.

1. Start the day with a glass of water-
A glass of slightly warm water with honey and lemon can do wonders. It keeps your digestion good, boots metabolism and flushes toxins from the body.

2. Always eat fresh-
When it comes to your health, a little bit of effort is always worthwhile. Try to eat freshly made food in a calm and quiet place. Oh yes, the ambience is quite important.

3. Develop a habit of walking after the meal-
Walking 100 steps after the meal increases blood circulation, decreases belly fat, and reduces stress.

4. Have a glass of warm milk-
A glass of warm organic milk post dinner will relax your senses. Add a little bit of cardamom to the milk and have it without sugar. Sometimes you can add a pinch of turmeric too, for better immunity and healing power.

5. The “Me” time-
Give yourself little breaks during working hours. Just sit calmly and close your eyes and disconnect from everything else for a while, even if it is for half a minute. This will definitely increase your efficiency.

6. Sip on caffeine and sugar free drinks-
It might sound cliché, but believe me it works. Sipping on sugar free herbal drinks or green tea in between the meals manages your urge of eating, and it works for your skin too.

7. Get a good massage whenever you have time-
The whole body massage makes your skin feel relaxed, rejuvenated and nourishes it.

8. Go with the traditional face-packs and body pack-
Sometimes, it is beneficial to go traditional. So always prefer homemade face-packs over ready-made packs, like the one made with chickpea flour, turmeric, rose water and milk, you can also add a few drops of any essential oil of your choice.

9. Accompany your favourite people-
Be around the people you like the most, or those whose presence makes you really happy from inside. It feeds your soul, but its effect shows on your mind and body.

10. Get into the bed early-
Try to practice this habit of sleeping early. We have been hearing this since ages and ignored, but now is the time to stick to this habit. It can regulate all your bodily functions.

11. Be an early riser-
Always try to get up before the sunrise, and it can only happen if you sleep early in night.

12. A little heed to exercise-
If you are not that much into exercise or fitness regime, then jogging, brisk walking or respiratory exercises will be great to start your day with.

13. Your meal is the most essential part-
Never ever skip your breakfast, because this is the secret to a healthy gut. Have a good and healthy breakfast. It helps to reduce weight and removes toxins from the body. Also, focus on having small portions at a time, instead of one heavy meal.

14. Add a few herbs to your daily diet-
It won’t take much of your time, but the benefits are immense. You can add Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum), Amla (Phyllanthus emblica), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Ginger, garlic, etc. to your food, in the form of tea, . Tulsi can even go with your normal green tea, and it has huge health benefits.

15. Choose ghee over oil-
Yes!! You heard it right.. Ghee. It is known as clarified butter and was originated in India. Interestingly, it is even better than butter because of its properties. It is lactose free, contains omega-3 fatty acids (due to which it actually lowers your cholesterol), it is a good source of vitamins A, E, & K. And adding to its benefits, it also gives you the gift of healthy skin and eyesight.
